See if you can get a lesson or drive the routes the morning of the test, although your instructor may not be up :P

Seriously though relax, maybe get yourself a tea or coffee in the shop and be confident in your ability and you'll pass. Know the bits and pieces under the bonnet and the signs and stuff cause they'll give confidence. Don't worry if you get one or two wrong though they don't have any impact.

Also, make sure your lights and stuff is working on the morning of, because it might be tricky to replace the, in a hurry at 7.30

Best of luck! The secondary schools are finished but be careful of little kids flying around the Ennis road area etc.

Wouldn't know anything about the Limerick route but yeah, as was said make sure your car is prepared and your comfortable with all the controls.

I had booked the day before off work for some pretests and my instructor brought me in to the test centre the day before and told me exactly where to park, where to walk, where I'll be sitting and what would happen. I could not recommend this more, helped with my nerves big time.

Best of luck and just do your best and try prepare as best you can!

I passed my test on the same route. My driving instructor took me practically on the route of the test a week before. There are about 3 variations so ask your instructor (or get an instructor) to take you on them. The roads won't be too busy. Remember if coming up to the traffic lights on the Ennis road, as if you are heading to town, passing out limerick lawn on the LHS. Check mirrors and then indicate in good time as he made me take a right at those lights and then coming to Ard Scoil took that road back of JFK. He got me to do the 3 point turn in Caherdavin, Rossroe Ave, backwards on a hill. My driving instructor said he never heard the likes of it. Also he got me to reverse in Caherdavin around a corner and there were kids nearby so I said to him I am going to wait until the kids pass behind the vehicle. It must have worked as I was only 21 driving 10 weeks a male and I passed. He even said to me before he told me I passed at the end "You took your test before anyway" I was afraid to say no but he said its fine you passed anyways. I got about 7 minor marks docked for being too slow. Best of luck and try not to be too nervous just drive carefully.

Remember also that the three point turn (turnabout) doesn't have to be three points. It can be half a million points as long as you don't clip the kerb and keep observing all around :)

Yes good point Pete123456, I took more than three points to perform the three point turn. Best of luck.

The Tester tells you that you can go over and back more than once if necessary. If it not necessary it will be deemed a fault. Going over and back without using the full width of the road is not competent driving. Quite easy to fail the test if you go forward and back too often.

Yes I understand but some areas might be wider or narrower than others and turning circles could be larger or smaller, I was just making the point that the turn about doesn't have to be exactly 3 points. Obviously if you're 10 mins trying to turn that's fair enough

Common sense really. If your in any doubt that you may hit the kerb go back and over again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCFJ5uRZiSg

Nerves got to me totally fluffed it and failed my first time. I re applied same day few hrs later. Just really let nerves get better of me

Main thing got marks for was at yeild signs said I should of stopped when instead I slowed down and peeped and creeped out of the junction. As I thought you did not have to stop only slow down.

My progress was good junctions and roundabouts fine mirrors etc.

My handbrake as well got into such a state on hill starts with cars behind me that tried take off with hand brake half on.

One bad thing that happened on tight road woman was double parked and I indicated out to move around when clear opens her door without looking and stepped straight out of her car on top of me I could have strangled her
Long story short nerves got to me and I did not deserve to pass hopefully next time.

You seem to have a good attitude and a positive outlook. Only thing to do now is keep practicing and give it a good lash the next time :)

These things happen... I failed my trailer test within 2 mins of leaving the centre and spent the rest of my test cursing myself. I passed it very soon after on the next go though so get back into the passing frame of mind! :)

The experience will stand for you, and all this will make you a better driver. Try not to be nervous as the worse thing can happen is what already happened and you simply redo it. Keep practicing and remember what your learned from your test. Best of luck next time round.
