I want to make a few changes to the front of the house which will need planning permission from DLR CC. Nothing controversial at all and I'd imagine they'd see that very quickly. Does it really take a minimum of three months to get permission for basic stuff like this? (we need to move in asap)

    Standard planning application timeframe.
You are caught for all the extras as the guy building a 2 storey extension up the road, such as, newspaper notice, OS Maps, drawings, lodgement, fee. Wait 2 months for decision. Another month for final grant. Then lodge a commencement notice giving 2 weeks notice before you can build.

Then don't forget about the time it takes to engage someone to do this application and prepare the drawings which could be a month or so.

I've done 3 in DLRCC recently, so the only good thing is that they are very spot on with regards to dates of decisions, in fact got our decisions a few days earlier than expected and the final grants bang on 4 weeks later.
