    Hello,

Just looking for some advice really. I'm asking for a family member.
She's on Jobseekers allowance (€193) & if she applies for DA (suffers from Social Anxiety/Depression). Will she be left with less then €193?
She CANNOT possibly take a pay cut. I have read the process is very long. Just not sure what happens when she fills in the form, then what?

She's on Prozac & is on the waiting list for counselling.

It's the same amount, she fills in the form and it also has a part for her doctor to fill in and then it's just waiting for a response.

Just be careful because she may be taken off jobseekers once she applies for DA as technically she will no longer meet the requirements for jobseekers. She could however look into illness benefit. Depending on her work history, may be allowed to claim that for up to 24 months. It is the same rate and is paid directly into your bank account. You need to submit a monthly cert to the social welfare.
I switched from jobseekers to illness benefit and then back to job seekers again in the past and it was hassle free. DA is hard to get and you can be waiting a long time to hear back. Id call into citizens advice or ring them.

If she's taken off job-seekers, it's likely she'd be granted a supplementary welfare allowance while waiting for a response on the disability allowance.

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help, I've posted this before but can't get a definite answer... I was on illness benefit for 2 years Til dec 2016 when it had run out, I was fit and well so applied for JSB which I am on since January. I am now unwell again but don't know if I can reapply for illness benefit as I only have credited contributions for 2015 ,? Have been in to citizens advice and they aren't sure

Hi there, short answer is no you can't. You can only be on illness benefit for 24 months. You would need 13 weeks of paid contributions from working in order to requalify. You could however apply for supplemantry welfare. Or if you thought the illness would be long term you could apply for disability and claim supplemantry while that decision is being made.
I'm open to correction but I'm sure I'm right as I'm pretty much in the same situation.
