Looks to be an unusual dent/impact given that the outer most part of the wheelarch is unscathed. Could be a trolley or something perhaps? Looks like it took a big enough hit.

Not much one can do besides check for CCTV, is there?

Unusual dent alright, trolley on small tipper truck turning tight to get out ,but in a shopping centre maybe not.
See if they will let you look at the cctv, apart from that not much you can do.

Looks like a door mark, just a very big one.

Never thought of that. Looks like the point of a back door! Maybe got caught in the wind. Thanks.

Good luck with CCTV, my mam's last i30 was parked directly in front of a shop in a busy area where people would have been walking by frequently and had the whole side of the car from rear arch all the way up to front arch and wing mirror absolutely scratched and dented to pieces, CCTV wasn't working. Seems to be the case with a lot of businesses, either it doesn't work, wasn't on that day or doesn't record more than a few days. Some are VHS quality with 1 frame per second...

All I can say is best of luck with CCTV. The Mill is a busy area too, wouldn't be surprised if someone saw something and left it. Only way to help yourself in future is park at the back or away from everyone as I do (although some ***** still park next to you even though there's empty spaces all over) or get a dashcam for the front and rear that has a motion sensor for when you park and record when movement is detected, then have it wired to always have power from the fuse. Not ideal but you don't have much choice when scum like this don't give a toss about someone else's car.

straight edge at the end and in white, id say a high van or truck swung a door into you.

Worked out in the Mill at one stage and one of the ladies came out to find her car on bricks and all four wheels missing. No CCTV. So contact them ASAP

I believe of you report it to the guards and go through the MIBI they'll compensate you through th me uninsured drivers fund. Granted we all end up paying for that in the end but heigh ho!

You need to identify the offending vehicle to claim through the MIBI

Only for personal injury if offending vehicle is unidentified.

MIBI are not liable for property damage from unidentified vehicles unless there are significant personal injuries from the same incident.

Just going by the photo I'd say it might. The white looks like paint from whatever hit you? If so those paint less repair places should be able to fix it and for a lot less than respraying the panel. I'd recommend the Dentpro guys. They can work wonders.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Sorry to hear that, but on the bright side it doesn't look like it'll be an expensive fix with a Painless Dent Removal company.. less than e100 I'd say

Yep there doesn't seem to be any sharp creases on it, going by the pic.
