    Hello All,

I'm in two minds as to know what to do with my car. It's a 08 E92 BMW 320i.

It was due a service last November. Is it bad form to trade a car in that needs a service? I can hear the diff beginning to whine too. I'd prefer to get another car rather than throw another 1k at least into the car.

    Bad form :D

Look on donedeal how many second hand, private sale cars are "recently serviced." Sound of them to save the new owner a few bob, isn't it? The dealer isn't gonna give you anymore for it if you get it serviced, so just trade it as it is.

Not bad form imo. Don't BS the garage on what work needs to be done and it will be reflected in the trade in price they offer you.

2 years ago I traded in a Fiat Punto that had electrical problems and the airbag warning light on. Was honest with the garage, was offered a fair price then.

You'd be throwing money down the drain getting it serviced before trading it in. Trade it in as is.

Just trade it in. If dealer asks about service then mention it.

People never usually trade in freshly serviced cars. Dealers don't really expect it either as the will be servicing anything they will be selling on themselves and if it's going to the trade they don't care.

It will pop up on the screen when they turn on the ignition anyway.
