I've booked tickets to fly to Toronto with Air Canada next Friday with ETravel, a booking agent and was wondering if you have to check in online, similar to what they do with RyanAir and the likes? I've never flown outside of Europe so have no idea what the process is anymore?

I doubt that there are any airlines that don't offer you the ability to check-in online but unlike with Ryanair the majority will allow you to check-in at the airport so the decision is completely up to you. There is no extra charge for airport check-in.

Air Canada only allow you to check-in 24 hours before your flight.

Even if you check-in online you may find that if you have luggage to check you have to still queue up to speak to an agent. This often depends on the airline and the airport that you're flying from.
