    Hi,

See the attached picture (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B21NBE_QlXx3ZVBFRVlhTmlTUkU/ )
its the only remaining key for my U-lock so I would like to make a copy in case I loose it. I tried the local key cutting shop but they said they couldn't do it, it would be a custom job and very expensive. I find this hard to believe. Are bike lock keys like this not very common nowadays, does anyone know where I would get a replacement cut in Dublin ?

    Thanks,

Yes, but I suspect they would need the code that goes with the key, which I dont have, I doubt they'll just be able to tell from the photo.

These types of wafer locks are a Finnish design from the lads at Abloy. AFAIK the tooling for that key should be the same as an Abloy door lock.

This crowd in Finglas may be able to help.

They will more than likely send you the blanks which you can then get cut at any locksmiths.

Be careful with your key, I had 2 oxford locks, the keys wore out on both. Very poorly designed locks, and stupid to make the keys from such weak material. CRC replaced one for me. The lock was integrated into a chain, I cut off the lock part so I could still use the chain with another padlock, I was disgusted to see a much weaker pin was connecting the chain to the lock part. If someone had tugged on the chain repeatedly I reckon they could break it, while the chain was 10mm square links, you would think designers making locks would have heard the term "weakest link".

I take photos of the codes for my locks now.
