    Hi all

Looking for some opinions are to what you would do in my position. I'm soon going to be moving job from one which required me to commute 40 miles daily and do a bit a milage-claimable driving around the country to one where I'm a 30 minute walk from the office (with no driving in Ireland required).

I have a 12 2.0 Golf with 136k miles for the last 2 and a half years which has recently got a new set of good tyres, is in great nick with all the extras and has been reliable (excluding needing a rebuild 8 months ago when the newish water pump failed and seized ). I live in the city centre with the g/f and she has a car which she uses daily but I would have access to.

In my position, would you get rid?? Theres a few grand left on the loan which would be good to clear... I'm also toying with the idea of getting a motorbike instead as the insurance / tax is less than a third of the car and I have all the gear already.... first world problems :o

Between insurance, tax, nct, services and depreciation it will cost you a couple of grands a year. Plus any petrol/diesel you would use.

Shift it if you really don't need it. But remember about the fact that NCB expires after 2 years.
