    Hi

Looking for advice for the base for laying patio slabs.

Ive got 2 very different opinions on how it has to done. Both to have slight gradient. Both on top of subbase 804 compacted.

    1. Stone merchant says 5 or 6 in 1 sand cement mix on top of 804 to hold slabs
2 trade limestone dust compacted on top of 804 which will be bind slabs better

Both say no way would they do the other. Opinion 1says 2 will guarantee slab lifting. Opinion 2 says 1 slabs will sink in time because of rain water coming in contact with sand mixture

Any ideas who is right or are they both right in doing same job different ways as long as it's professionally done.

    Thanks
