Passat P2015 fault code

Hi all. I have a 2009 Passat 2.0tdi with the above fault code, air intake manifold. It's an expensive fix it seems.

I have been doing a bit of googling and see that the issue is so common that there are simple brackets that have been engineered to permanently fix the problem without changing out the part. Does anybody know if these are available in Ireland and if they are viable or if I am better off just ponying up for a new manifold? Thanks

Ended up changing the part as the garage I use didn't know anything about the brackets. They were familiar with the fault and advised replacement. Not sure what it cost in the end as I was getting a service, tyres and a few other smaller jobs as well. Was a couple of hundred anyway for the part.

The light came back on with the same code a few weeks later and is still on, so they reckon it's probably wiring now. Haven't had a chance to leave it in to them again for a day to diagnose properly.

This is just one of an endless list of issues I have had with the car, cannot wait to get rid.

Just in case anyone else stumbles across this thread like i did.

I had the P2015 code on a 2.0 TDI Passat, two separate mechanics looked at the car and said the motor on the Manifold was busted and I would therefore need a whole new Manifold (€850 - €950 all in).

Told both mechanics about the P2015 manifold repair kit\bracket and both said it would be no use as the motor was completely dead.

After a fair bit of googling I decided to try the repair kit anyway and... It worked. Engine light off and no errors.

€26 for the part and + about 30 mins labor.

So in short if your told you need a new manifold definitely worth trying this bracket.

Hi Richie, I have this same issue and like ye I've been quoted crazy money to buy the entire manifold part I'm selling the car shortly and need to get that light of the dash! Where did you end up buying the bracket I'm having trouble sourcing it?

Typical VW diesel carry on. Engines made of butter, they are utterly useless.

Everyone, EVERYONE, i know that has/had a diesel VW has had problems.

Buy the bracket, get it fitted and get rid before it starts giving other trouble.

I know right I've had to change the push handbrake when it went on me last year, a month ago I had to get a new suspension spring fit and 2 other parts along with it. It seems that everything that goes with a VW runs into the hundreds of euro to get fixed sick of it!

Hey, I got it off this ebay seller:

    https://www.ebay.ie/itm/P2015-REPAIR-BRACKET-FOR-ALUMINUM-MANIFOLD-03L129711E-AUDI-VW-SEAT-SKODA-2-0-TDI/132222798673?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

If you know your way around you could probably fit it yourself in 30-45 mins following youtube videos.

Exactly. They are just expensive unreliable money pits. Very nice to drive when they are going well but I'd never buy one.

I had to do the suspension spring last summer aswell :(. Hopefully the bracket does the trick and makes it a cheap fix.

Thanks so much Richie I will give that a try for sure. I think I'm gonna buy a Hyundai next I had one a few years ago and it was a great car.

Supernova, I don't have a pic to hand and it wont let me post a link but if you pop up to the link that richie gave and scroll to the bottom of the ebay page it shows the image of what I've got on the dash.

OP here, it’s just the normal check engine light that appears with this fault.

Would agree with the last few comments, my Passat has been an utter money pit since the day I got it and I will never buy another one unless I am sure that their reliability has improved dramatically.

I actually really like the car, it’s nice to drive, comfortable, economical and reasonably well equipped. It’s a pity that the build quality is so poor because it’d be a wonderful car to own otherwise.

rwalshie, mickeyk, yes that is the same warning light thats been constantly on my touran for the last 6/7 weeks
other warning symbols show up also - more intermittent - airbag, glow plugs, back light bulb, plus the alarm system went completely bonkers on 2 or 3 occasions - also very weird sound coming from inside back of stereo system mostly when I open and close my driver side door

Supernova, have they hooked your car up to the diagnostic machine?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 679 ✭✭✭supernova5

yes, a regular repair shop did it 2 weeks ago, he said something about the display unit [or the other technical term its known as] was showing some abnormalities

I'm taking it to a more specialised centre this Wednesday

Hey, Could you please let me know who fitted this kit for you and I have same issue in my Audi A4 and they are quoting nearly 900 to replace the whole manifold. I would like to try this first but looking for a mechanic who can do this.

    Thanks.

Hi Powerstar I had my local mechanic in Co Galway do this for me I don't know what part of the country you're in but if Galway suits I can pm you his details. I'm sure though that any good sound mechanic would fit it for you no bother.
