My dog was diagnosed with SRMA this week. My vet said she will have to be on steroids for at least 6 months, maybe ever a year. The drug that she is taking is called Prednisolone but it costs 1 euro for a 20 mg tablet. I found that Chemist Direct sells the same pill for 0.10£, unfortunately they don't deliver to Ireland. Are there any pharmacies in Ireland that have this drug cheaper?

You could try rining around some pharmacies and seeing. You will need a prescription though to get them. Not sure bow much your vet would charge for that.

No I don't. She got sick 2 months after we got her. I know it's not an explanation, but we just didn't think about it back then.

I have one of my cats on them - prednison 5 - costs about 10 cents. I get them directly from my vet - i can ask what the 20's cost with her?

Yeah, I had a dog on preds for a good while, and it didn't seem as expensive as that. Do you find your vets' prices quite high generally?

I just changed the vets, but the previous one charged the same - 1 euro for 20mg tablet. I do think they like to rip you off. I asked the new one if you can get it any cheaper and he said he doesn't know, he also advised me not to buy them online :/

You most likely have a vet with overhead etc. My vet is home based and only does out calls - hence charges less.

Parcel Wizard/Motel gives you an address in Northern Ireland - very useful for sites that don't ship to Ireland ;)

But you still need a prescription from an Irish vet, mine won't give one for use on sites outside of Ireland

Are they not obliged to give it? Mine asked me last time if I was going to buy online. I bought it from them but was impressed that she knew me so well :p

Mine were on the same steroid for a while and from what I can remember it was €4 for 14 tablets. But I was also prescribed this and had to take 49 of them. Bought from my chemist for €6.50, the exact same tablet and dosage in the same packaging.
I know there are two pharmacies in our town that stock animal medications too and have heard of others who get the prescription from their vet and buy from the pharmacy for a lot less than buying direct from the vets.

I don't know, there is a sign up in the practice saying that they won't issue prescriptions to be bought on sites outside of Ireland

My dog is also on it OP and my vet doesn't charge me anywhere near that.

How much does your charge? If you don't mind me asking. I think I'm going to talk about this to my vet... doesn't seem right that I should pay so much if other vets give it cheaper.

Ask in a chemist, if you're rural most do animal meds, my vet has sent me over the road to the chemist when they are out of stock of meds.
My dog had steroids before, got a couple of weeks with for about €3-4 I think. Medium size dog, can't remember dose.

A vet is obliged to write a prescription for any animal under his or her care. This is clearly stated in the Animal Remedies Legislation.
This is one of the animal brands of the 20mg prednisolone available- http://http://www.hpra.ie/img/uploaded/swedocuments/LicenseSPC_10815-029-003_11112016144009.pdf
The 20mg tablets for humans are unlicyand are expensive. So, if you get human medicines you will be getting 5mg tablets which are reasonably priced.
If you go into any Pharmacy with the prescription, urban or rural, they should be able to fill it for you.
