I've decided to get an Audi A6 with s-tronic or E-class with 7g tronic plus.
Does anyone have advice or experience of either/both?
I think both recommended service intervals is 120km. Is either more reliable?
The car will used mostly on the motorway, with a mix of rush hour traffic.

Are you looking at brand new or second hand? I wouldn't be buying a brand new A6 as the current model is near the end of it's life and the E Class is light years ahead of it in every department.

I bought a new A6 s tronic 190bhp in 2015. It was a lovely car to drive and a year later I had 20,000miles/32,000km on the clock. One morning it went into limp mode and Audi sent the AA to my house. He had to transport it back to them as he was unsure what was wrong as he was getting lots of different fault codes. Turned out it was a boost pressure sensor. Took a few days to sort but was all done free under guarantee. Needs a fill of ad blue about every 7,000miles/11,000km but you can buy ad blue at halfords and fill it yourself.

I bought an A6 Sline S-Tronic in 2016 after looking at both the BMW 520 and E Class Mercedes including test drives, Found the A6 interior and drive much more to my liking, The E Classs is very nice but not light years ahead to be honest. The BMW recent problems with the timing chain was a worry. The new A6 Due next year should be interesting,

I'm thinking exact same regards, BMW, Audi and MB.   The A6 is a very nice place to be.
What real world MPG are ye getting with the S-Tronic?  Is it the Ultra version?

My A6 was an ultra model. The best mpg I got was 62mpg. Very comfortable car and smooth on the road. Nice looker too.

I bought a 2015 E class estate with the 7G auto box 18 months ago and am very happy with it. Really comfortable to drive and I'd recommend it. great on motorways and has auto hold for rush hour. It came with park assist which is great for freaking passengers out. I haven't driven an A6 to compare them. Service interval is 30k (I think). My one uses Adblue but the low emissions saved a lot on the import.

In my experience with the 7G box in a 3 year old EClass in terms of comfort and smoothness its great. However there is a known issue with the electronic connector at the front end leaking at the gasket. Ive had it repaired twice at a little over €100 each time. The basic way it was explained is that the strain of cable makes its flimsy and it leaks subsequently. When it happens you will notice a line of transmission fluid under the car. In terms of the car itself its fine if a little boring maybe! Grand place to be but nothing more! In terms of engine nothing less than a 220 is any good for torque.

Just for those with the 190 A6 ultra what are they like in terms of power and torque? I presume they are comfort suspension and not the SLine setup?

Do yourself a favour and ignore the service interval. Service it every 15k/year.

I have the SLine model in the A6 and find it very comfortable compared to the SLine in the A3 Saloon which was very harsh on a the road. I don't have the black edition which might be a bit harsher on 20" Wheels compared to 18" on mine. I have no worries about the 30K service intervals if your doing high milage.
