RSA website should have all the info.

    http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Your-Vehicle/Vehicle-Standards/Agricultural-Vehicles/

    Here you go.
I scanned through it and couldn't see any word of liscence changes, plenty about requirement for breaking, suspension etc.

    It's all down to weights.
Is it a twin axle builders trailer, two cow box, low loader or dump trailer, far as I know tractor speed is also a factor.

RSA website should have all the info.

correct, tractor speed, brakes on tractor, brakes on trailer ( oil or air depending on speed of tractor ) and also plated for trailers made after Jan 2016 I think

to drive a tractor you need a "W" licence not a C or D licence

call RSA but far better to call is local Garda traffic core station. they will fairly tell you what you can do and what they will pull you over and prosecute you for without any guilt. they are ruthless

Short answer NO, its not illegal, as long as:

You have a tractor licence (W class)

The tractor and the trailer are in roadworthy condition (lights, breaks, tyres, safety chain, etc...)

You are within any weight limits for the trailer and don't have an oversize load.
