Athlone to Sligo??

Hi everyone.

I need to travel from Athlone town to Sligo town on Saturday. Whats the quickest route between the two towns by either bus or train?

No direct links by either bus or train. I've done bus before, you need to get bus to Longford or Mullingar and change to Sligo bus or train there. Check the CIE website.

from the journey planner the quickest seems to be 14:45 - 17:40 (02h:55min)1 Interchange

14:45 Athlone Bus Station
take Bus 65 towards Monaghan, Monaghan Bus Station
15:35 to Train Station Longford

16:05 Train Station Longford
take Bus 23 towards Sligo, Sligo Bus Station operated by BUS ?IREANN
17:38

the only other one is to take the bus from Athlone to knock airport at 11:05, and then the bus to sligo from there arriving at 14:42, but it is still nearly 4 hours
