BMW E90 dash lights after a new battery

    Hey Folks,

Got a new battery installed into the missus E90. On the way home I noticed that the lights for the seat belt and air bag are now permanently on, where they weren't before. Would this be as a result of the battery being changed, errors in the coding or just unrelated?

    Many thanks.

Most likely due to bad connection to the battery, are all the smaller sub-cables plugged in correctly at the battery? who installed it?

You need to register new battery on the E90, think that's what's causing it, have a read here...

does need to be registered to extend battery life, but it should have not effect on airbag lights.

I think a new battery only needs to be coded to the car if it has iDrive which has the IBS system. iDrive was not standard on the E9x 3 Series. The fault codes may have just came up while the battery was disconnected and simply need to be cleared now.

It was done locally in what would be a fairly reasonable sized independent garage. I'll give them a call tomorrow so and ask them what the situation is.

    The car doesn't have iDrive.

Hmnn doing a quick search and these have me worried:

We normally go to a BMW specialist but as the missus was pregnant (new baby now) the battery had drained and the car wouldn't start so I got a local garage to fit a new one. Is it possible something has been damaged? Am I best to let the garage fit it or simply bring it to the specialist we use?

Most likely low voltage fault codes may have been caused by the dud battery. Clear the code and it will likely be fine.
