Would a universal fuel cap pass an NCT

I've failed an NCT today on the fuel cap seal being worn. I don't think it would be an easy part for me to get. Would a univeral fuel cap pass an NCT?

Is the seal on the door or the cap itself?
If it's on the cap just pick up another from a scrapyard.

It's just the seal on the cap, will call around a few scrapyards, thanks
