Looking for some suggestions- hope some of you can help. After some complications we are hoping to get married in the next few months- no def date yet. We would hope to have a small wedding- probably only immediate family (so probably no more than 20 and this is including some children). Really stumped for ideas of where to look, what way to go about it etc. Would like somewhere memorable and special but most places I look at would be for bigger groups. Open to any ideas people might have. Live in Midlands but while somewhere near by would be ideal would travel for the ideal venue. Also would probably opt for church ceremony. Help!!!!

A lot if restaurants would have private dining rooms that would be perfect for a group that size and then onto a residence bar? If the budget allows you could even look into some trad or live music?
No reason not to have a great night with an intimate crowd!
Or you could always do a house party after the dinner and order in late night pizza for midnight snacks?

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering about what we could do after the meal with only a small group alright- thanks for the ideas!

Party games at home are all the rage now, quizzes / kareoke -loads of things will still work with a small group.
A Mr & Mrs game I saw at a wedding at the weekend worked great!

We looked at Ballilogue in Co. Kilkenny as an option for us, it has the potential to be gorgeous for a small wedding and is relatively new.
You can convert the conservatory room into a ceremony room, would fit around 30 max but you'd have to rent in your own chairs. Beyond that you can have dinner in a separate room and there's an old tigeen where you could have a trad session etc.
We loved what we saw when we visited but in the end decided to have a bigger do so wouldnt fit our numbers.
    Worth a look.

    Schoolhouse hotel &
Lucan spa hotel both cater for small weddings.

Bear in mind you'll need to give 3 months notice to the state. Happy planning :-)

We got married in The Schoolhouse Hotel Ballsbridge, we had 35 at the ceremony and 55 at the meal.
We had an area reserved in the bar for after the meal. The entertainment was a man singing and playing the guitar.

    We had a brilliant day

We had 160 people at ours which was small in comparison to some of my cousins who had 300+!!

They were all great fun so I would say the more the merrier!

Thanks very much for the suggestion. We're still trying to decide what format we are going to go with. Hard to know what to do!!

if you are willing to travel Finnstown castle hotel in Lucan do a variety of private rooms for functions. Its an elegant manor house with beautiful gardens, you of course wouldnt have exclusive use of the property but would have a private bar/ private room to suit your groups size. Our family have used it for my grans 90th and a few christenings and it is a lovely venue.

Try to make sure it's something that you'll actually enjoy, because that's the most important thing at the end of the day!

Happy couple equals happy guests (well usually!)

Thatch Cottage in Nenagh in Tipperary is lovely too. Been to a few small weddings there and they were nice and intimate. Very nice setting and food and service fantastic.

Ours is even smaller and we've taken Boyne Hill House in Navan. We're just using the big house rather than the whole venue. Expensive (for the numbers) but it's a fabulous venue.

Have ye a plan for after meal? We're from new no it hard to come up with something. People have given some great suggestions here but don't know do they quite suit our group. If you prefer not to say please don't!

We're having our small wedding (25 guests) in Roundwood House, Co.Laois. They're one of the few venues I found that suits such small numbers. We've stayed there before and its lovely and the food is fantastic.

Apart from drinking, no :-) We were thinking of something like Guitar Hero on a big screen and maybe some karaoke. Most likely we'll just sit around chatting and chilling....and drinking.....
