Suggestion for Holiday in September

Myself and my partner have been thinking of going away sometime around September this year for up to 10 days but not really decided on a destination just yet.

We both agree we don't want to be stuck in a hotel resort with a nice beach, however, we would like some relaxing beach time just not for 1-2 weeks!

We would like the option to go on (day) trips to interesting and cultural places, see beautiful places, nature, water (maybe some climbing) etc

We're also both open to spending a few days somewhere and moving around to the next, but nothing to intense!

Cyprus is lovely.warm seas, wildlife and nature, water parks, mountains, fantastic beaches and loads of ancient historical sites.cheap living,English widely spoken, fantastic climate and very friendly people . About as far away as you can get without leaving Europe.would highly recommend.

Lisbon (day trips to Sintra, Mafra, beaches in Cascais/Estoril) or Malta (plenty of history and archeology, day trip to Gozo).

If you choose Lisbon be careful, the city is over run with tourists and Sintra is hell on earth - it was the worst touristic experience of my life literally tens of thousands of tourists there when i went - totally ruined.

Lake Garda would be a good option. Say Riva del Garda or Sirmione or Desenzano are all beautiful. Lots to see and do within easy driving or bus range. Plenty of watersports / cycling / walking if you're the active type. Verona and Milan would be good day trips.
