A 3rd dog

Looking for advice on taking in a 3rd dog. Brendan and Lucy have settled in well, they play, groom, share beds and sit on each other. We are thinking of getting a third.
Lucy has only been with us for about 3 weeks so it's still early days and I feel like we still need to get her out of her shell somewhat, we need to make sure that these 2 get priority and if it means that we hold off on getting a 3rd, so be it.
Bren is dominant when it comes to human attention while she will be the boss at food time but together without human interaction they now play well. She barks at him when he's napping if she wants to play, he drops toys on her when it's the other way around.

If we were to adopt a 3rd, would it be best to do it now or do we wait until we feel Lucy feels fully at home here.

Why would you like a third dog?

The dynamics change hugely with 3 dogs I find.

I'd wait. It's still early days and you've only just gotten them to accept the status quo - a third dog will tip that on it's head. You'll probably end up with a completely different dynamic too as mp says - 2 dogs and a third wheel...

We would just like a 3rd but our current 2 take priority, if there would be issues, I wouldn't entertain the idea. These 2 are happy together so if a 3rs would upset them, I wont go ahead.

From my experience three is difficult...four is much easier :D

Seriously...stick with two. Three always creates an odd one out (and it could be a different one every day) and brings a lot of noise and hectic into the whole operation.

(four actually was easier than three)

    So fours an option :)

I much prefer having two dogs to three (never had any more than three though).
