Kissing your child on the lips.

There was outrage over a picture of Beckham kissing his 5 year old girl on the lips over the weekend. It sparked a debate.

Some crack pot child psychologist commented on it too and said it was wrong and at that age the get sexually aroused. Sick ****

I honestly don't see what the problem is. Do you kiss your child on the lips and what is deemed an unacceptable age to do it?

There was, but the Beckham's are irrelevant. Who is someone to tell you how much affection you can show your child.

Whatever paper you read that in, never read it again. Whatever group of people are getting outraged about this, never talk to them again. Problem solved.

Wasn't there "outrage" when his missus did it too?

Kissing your child on the lips is a perfectly normal thing to do. Anyone who thinks of it as anything more than a normal thing to do, is the one that I'd be worried about.

My actual opinion ..all families are different. If the child is fine with it ...it's fine.

There's all sorts of options available to the OP.

Totally agree. Kid says no, then leave it.

Well the child being "fine with it" is not really the measurement though is it?
What of young children being abused who don't know any different? Is the abuse ok then? Of course not.

That said, the issue here seems completely nonsensical. It seems the outrage society just found something else reasonably normal to be outraged about. People have little to be worried about tbh.

There was no outrage. Still isn't. It's not weird, it's not sexual, nothing wrong with it.

The journalists got a photo and had to make a story to go along with it. Happens all the time. They throw up a question they know a small group of people will disagree with, then claim there are two opposing sides fighting about it even though it's about 4 people in a comments section.

No one cares. There's no outrage. You fell for it. Stop clicking on celebrity stories.

All this crap about kissing your kids/neices/nephews on the lips, there is feck all wrong with it. It's a totally natural and way of bonding. My Gran into her 80s still kissed all us Gran kids on the lips, and many of us in our 30s.

Unfortunately now everything is becoming sexualised, and anyone seen kissing their kids or younger relations is now risking people labeled or encouraging paedophilia. It's only sexual if it's between two adults or horny teenagers who are looking to get it on.

The only people would have a problem with this, are those who are looking for a problem.

A few people complaining online is not outrage in any meaningful sense of the word.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,786 ✭✭✭wakka12

There wasnt really outrage. I saw an article about it, I think a very small group of people said it and then 95% of the other comments were people defending it saying its sexualising something for no reason etc.

Don't do it myself , but didn't consciously decide not to do it, just the way it is.
Don't see any problem with it either way

Nothing wrong with it IMO. I kiss my son on the lips but an age will be reached when that no longer happens and I know I will be sad on that day.

    I really don't get it.

There's something wrong in the mind of people who think there's something sexual about a very obviously public display of affection.

People for whatever reason love making a big deal out of their own hangups, it seems all the better if they can drag in a so called celeb to make their point. The truth is ****e like this deserves no air time at all - a real non story of ever there was one.

Whoever has a problem with a parent kissing their child on the lips has serious issues.

If you get your news from the Daily Mail, you're going to have a pretty warped sense of the world.

Absolutely. They're the ones that an eye should be kept on. Weirdos.

There was no outrage by anyone. Some fückstain journalist (and I use the term journalist in the loosest of terms) seen the picture, seen some comment by some psychologist who no one has ever heard of before and wrote a useless piece of drivel article and made up shít about people being outraged by it.

I kiss my 6 and 4yr old daughters on the lips all the time. Anyone who is outraged by it can fùck right off.

Whoever this "Noone" chap is... one thing is for certain, NO ONE should take them seriously! And I really mean NO ONE dammit!! :D

I wouldn't be outraged by it... they are your kids, it's a free world... smooch away!! :P

But just don't expect everyone to think it's a natural or normal parent child interaction... Kiss on the cheek? Sure. Kiss on the lips? Nope, not in my world... sorry!

And if you do end up being a pedo, may you suffer a very horrible and agonising death at the hands of the infamous kissing bug! (It's a real bug, honestly, I didn't make it up) :pac:

My youngest asked me this the other day. How come I kiss him on the cheek but my husband on the lips? I didn't really have an answer, I just like to kiss his smushy little pudgy cheeks. :o

Nothing wrong with a firm handshake.
