I didnt realise you could apply before offers came out and that was really stupid of me so now im really worried that i wont find accommodation and wont be able to even go to college.
Its my first year and ive never been to galway so my only choice would be student accommodation.
I am on the waiting list for corrib village and am going to apply as soon as i can in august, do i have much chance of getting a room?

Corrib Village is not the only place for student accommodation in Galway. However, most of them (Gort and Cúirt, anyway) opened their applications in February/March and people who applied on the actual day of applications opening were put on waiting lists. The longer you leave it to apply, the further down you are on the waiting list.
Student accommodation is not your "only choice", regardless of whether you've been to Galway before or not. Digs is a great option, and although the thought of living with an older adult/family may not be appealing to you, it's actually better than it sounds. I stayed in digs for first year, and I'm glad I chose it over student accommodation. It's a bonus if you can find digs where there are also other students staying there too. You feel less awkward and you've still got the joy of housemates but without the constant mess (since you're living in someone else's home). Plus in most places you get your dinner cooked for you. Trust me, that's a big help when you're in first year!

If you find digs somewhere in Newcastle/Rahoon/Knocknacarra/Salthill, you're either walking distance or on a bus route.
Don't think that student accommodation is your only choice, it's usually the more expensive option too.

Good luck with your house hunting, and try not to stress about it too much! I didn't get my accommodation until after the CAO offers, and I wasn't left homeless :)

After the CAO Offers come out, a lot of people cancel their accomodation in the student accomodations (especially corrib as it's very much a first year accomodation). I was on the waiting list for corrib, and after the offers came out they sent an email saying they would offer the cancellations to everyone on the waitlist once they were processed & they gave a date for this. If you really want to go to corrib, I'd recommend on that day just waiting for that email as rooms are really limited. Also they mostly only had twin rooms available so maybe make that your preferred choice if you don't mind sharing a room.
Also don't stress too much, I know plenty who only got their accomodation a few weeks before college began. Also digs are a great option for first year :)
