back a few years during those wet summers,i made bales in the wet, never again the silage was sour, what ever chance i think you need it dry

What if we don't get a dry spell until July. Are you better cut it wet now or wait till then?
So the two options are probably dry sh@#e or wet sh@#e.
    Which one?

Looks like a dry spell before then.
    Check the weather forecast.

It will be bulking up and declining in quality but what can you do. I wouldn't panic for a week or two. Have some fit to cut myself but it will have to wait now.

Real quality in heavy crops of silage is now gone and will be getting worse by the day, grass heading out and gone stemmy ,most likely 70/71 dmd and heading south of there now ,any chance that comes needs to be taken ,today was a washout here but I'm hoping to knock paddocks in am follow with Tedder twice and bale tomorrow evening ,very windy out now which will be a big help drying grass

Just looking at forecast. 13 degrees tomorrow with chances of possibly heavy showers. Glad I did first cut when I did. Have stuff to cut now but not as organised or as brave as you MJ!!

    You jammy git!:D

Ground conditions are soft enough here for stock let alone for tractors.
The local weather station recorded 30mm of rain yesterday.

But the forecast atm looks even better than it did yesterday.
It's giving HP for the whole of next week now over the country.
So i'll act then. This ground was only closed up in the middle of April.
    What will be will be!

When did you close the ground? Usually after mid June quality really goes to sh1t.

That's good to know. Booked contractor this morning for next Tuesday to mow second cut. Quality looks ok so far. If weather came right I'd cut this week though.

What website do you use for long range forecast?,You seem to be on the ball with the weather!

    I use ......
    http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/
mostly for looking at the charts.

Then for short range tomorrow and the next day weather clips.....
    https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMetOffice

And if you want to get the charts better explained and geeky about it .....
    https://www.youtube.com/user/GavsWeatherVids

Our own Met Eireann has to be looked at for the actual rainfall radar and then checking out past weather records.
    http://met.ie/
Also watch them after the news on TV.

This can be worth a gander at. It puts into animation the weather forecast.
    https://www.windy.com/?rain,53.347,-6.244,5

Well that's mostly it. You can look at netweather but theweatheroutlook is easier to manage.

    You did ask!:p

And not forgetting M.T Cranium on boards here.

Under serious pressure here, gone 2 weeks past cutting at least, and no let up with rain.

When I rang the contractor, they had a full week in front of them, weather permitting. There seems to be a big back log

cut sward is 24 units of n. 24 x 2 =48 . 2 units utilised per day so fertiliser would be long gone, work away

Same here. He laughed at me, but at least he told me not a chance instead of an empty promise.!
