2004 Mondeo purchased for partner. Drove fine home from guy. Tried to start it later and was losing power at 1000 revs and just conning out.

The car won't even rev just when I turn key in ignition it kicks up and then cuts out.

Anyone direct me on what it sounds like. Is it a battery issue or something deeper and will it be an expensive fix.

Petrol or diesel? How much fuel is in the tank?

Would start by checking codes / data . Doesn't sound like battery, sound like fuel issue.

Step 1. Positively ensure there is fuel in the tank. I.e. put some in.
