I had it a few years back. Severely ruptured disc blocking my spinal canal 95%. Was admitted from the surgeons rooms as an emergency. I didn't actually have surgery for nearly 48 hours as once I was admitted, immobilised and under neurological observation I was no longer a total emergency case. I thankfully was saved from bowel or bladder damage. I have permanent numbness of the back of one leg and my buttock, it extends into my privates. My legs and feet probably aren't 100% but nothing major.

So overall I was lucky and my residual symptoms are inconvenient more than anything else.
