I am in the process of selling a car which has tax arrears of over 12 months. Will the arrears disappear whenever I sell or will I still be liable for the arrears when the new owner registers the car?

The new owner won't be liable for the arrears. Neither will you unless someone gets caught driving it when it's under your ownership.
