Can anyone recommend a light mattress for camping? I saw one in Aldi and it seemed heavier than my tent! :(

Try the thermarest ridgerest or something similar. It's bulky but it's light, it's puncture proof and it's comfortable. You can cut it down to a coffin shape if you need to.
