Bike bag

I'm buying bike bag for a year now and after a lot of thinking I'm quite sure something like BikeBoxAlen won't suit me as it might be too big for some of my trips so would like to go with simple bike bag. I googled a bit and I'm thinking about something like below - any thoughts/experiences? I know there is no perfect cover for airplanes and their handling, and there are no guarantees it will keep my bike safe, but any general tips or any other suggestions are welcomed...

P.s. saw they are pretty much the same, just the size is different, so have to check my bike exact size to evaluate that ...

    I have this bag

    https://www.evanscycles.com/evoc-bike-travel-bag-EV163836

Has a longer flat base with 2 fixed wheels, rather than the 4 above. I vaguely remember reading about issues with those roller wheels breaking when I was researching.

The evoc is tall and thin when not in use, bit bigger than the 2 you suggested when opened up. Has some carbon fibre pole inserts for support and shape, and a good bit of storage pockets. Also a fair bit of space in main compartment to put cycle gear around the frame when travelling.

I did have to buy extras though, front fork support and chain guard.

Might be another option to consider.

Thanks for the suggestions. How "safe" your bike feels in there? Also, I would think most people do put some extra support for front fork for example (where did you get chain guard)? Also, so EVOC can't really be "closed" for when not in use (for example if the bike in bag doesn't fit the car...)?

I had the Scicon bag. Was always nervous picking it up at the destination. It got the sh1te battered out of it in December, resulting in a broken seat stay...

I have since bought a BikeBoxAlan. Its not as easy to squeeze into a taxi, but at least there's no nerves/panic when traveling with my bike now.

This might be a good alternative or at least offer a bit better protection. It's hard to beat bikeboxalan for peace of mind though they do take a battering in baggage halls.

I have been considering the B&W bike bag or bike box 2, will probably take the plunge soon.

I have the b&w bike case. It's decent and survived a number of trips to and from new Zealand as well as trips to Europe etc. The only issue with it is the wheels are fixed as in dont rotate. This might seem like a non issue but depending how far you've to walk it gets fairly irritating.

i have the scicon aero bag. got me to and back from IM Lanzarote without issue, another member on here borrowed it last year for two foreign races, one US, one european, no issues, and another couple of people have borrowed it and never had a problem either.

standing in the airport at lanza waiting for it to come out there must have been 40 or 50 bikes come out given it was race week, two thirds were scicons, that doesn't suggest there is any issues with them. bikes can get broken in them sure. then again, bikes can get broken in hard cases too, have seen one case myself. people think hard cases remove that concern, not by a long shot
