Heating stem upgraded -hot water question

    Hi all,
Firstly sorry if I'm explaining this in a round about way!

They I got installed a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 18i boiler with two zones (hot water + space heating). The system was supposed to come with the Nest thermostat and heat link controller however it was out of stock so that's coming on Tuesday.

As a workaround for the weekend a 3 zone EPH controller was installed (no room thermostat).

OK, my question is, should this unit be able to "read" the temperature from the hot press tank wired thermostat or is this only wired to the boiler to call for heating as needed depending on the timer setting?

Same question when the Nest heat link controller arrives, can the tank thermostat be interrogated from the Nest?

    Pictures of both units attached.

Both zones do work and I can independently turn each on and off, my question is really about monitoring the water temp.

    Thanks,
    Joe

One thing I don't like about the nest is it doesn't tell you the temperature of the hot water. Eph do a remote access that tells you the temperature of the water as well as the temperature of the space heating. Which I find way better than the nest. The hot water side is only a relay that brings in the boiler if needed through the same thermostat on your cylinder as of now..
Yes the nest is a nice looking bit of kit buts it's a glorified room stat.

    Hi,
Thanks for that. To be honest I'm not too worried about the temp of the hot water but just said I would ask. Do people think it's important to monitor it?

Does any other controller monitor the thermostat of the hot water or is it only Nest that doesn't (as yet)?

+1 on the EPH. The only thing I don't like about them is that the hard wired stats are totally different to the wireless

I'm using the wireless ones all the time now and and never a issue with them. Yes a bit more expensive but alot more accurate for the customer..
I like the way it tells the customer the water temperature so they know if there is an enough for a shower or not and sloves the aggurment with mary how she liked to put her hand on the old copper cylinder to see how hot it was now she can look at her app or the programmer because she got a new insulated cylinder.
