They'll take a percentage off your payment each week until it is repaid. I know 2 people that ended up owing money back. One came to an arrangement to have €1 a week taken back....I doubt that happens very often. The other had €15 a week taken.

cool im often over the quota and sometimes would get paid 4 weeks together. Some weeks id get no payment and sometimes id get 3/4 weeks etc

once im not tarnished as a criminal i dont mind

If you go a certain amount of weeks (not sure how many) without getting a payment, you'll get a letter out from Louth saying the balance of what's owed needs to be paid in full. Just go into your local office and tell them that you can't afford it in full, and that you want to stick with the arrangement previously agreed to.

ill wait and see what happens. Its hard not too worry as potentially half my wages might have to go paying back the social

Xs and Os can be ***** of thing though as its easy to get mixed up

I was on Xs and Os for a few years. Mistakes are very easy to make. I never got caught for the few mistakes I did make so hopefully you'll get away with it.
