Trapped Hedgehog

In my apartment building there is basement with a sunken area about 10 feet deep and ~3 feet wide by 20 feet long. A hedgehog has somehow got trapped in there. He could have gone through the railing and fallen over the hedge or come through a pipe that exits on the ground of this sunken area, presumably a water run off.

It would be quite awkward to go down there and get him, would need a ladder and anyway I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it after. Hedgehog seems happy enough at the moment, has plenty room to wander around and I have been dropping some food down to him.

Is there any organization that would come out and "rehome" it or what would people recommend I do?

See if there is a local animal rescue or is the ISPCA operating in your area, i am sure they would help get it out, it sound like it would be a quick job for someone with a ladder.

What area are you in ?

I think hogs are also a protected species in Ireland - basic legal protection status under Berne 3.There are rescues only dealing with hogs.PM me if you need names.Oh and maybe once the hog is free cover up the grid so it doesn't happen again? :D

There is a hedgehog rescue in Dublin. Google them to find contact details as they are licensed to handle and rehabilitate wild species.

I'll say it to the landlord, but doubt anything will be done.

A nice lady from them came this evening and climbed down and rescued it and took it away.
Thank you and everyone else for the help.
