My lap steel guitar has suddenly become a pick-up. The actual regular pick-up works fine, but the whole guitar is now acting as if there's a transducer fitted. Every tap, knock and scratch is amplified. What's happened?

I raised all the pick-up screws by half a turn, seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the reply btw.😎
