New boiler advice

    Hi,

I got 2 surveys done to replace an old boiler and install new controls, Ember control unit etc.

The first company said additional pipework would be required from boiler through kitchen up to immersion to allow for 2 zone water and heating.

The second company said no additional pipework would be needed because there is already a winter/summer valve (where you can still heat water while not heating radiators in summer)

I am wondering if there is much difference between the boilers they have suggested supplying below ? Also what about the system cleanse, Is the MagnaCleanse more efficent than the chemical cleanse ?

    Company 1
Intergas 18kw Condensing System Gas Boiler
    MangaCleanse System to Remove Dirt

    Company 2
Ideal Logic 18Kw ERP System Gas Boiler
Chemical Cleanse; Refill System, treat with Chemical Cleaner

    Thank you for any advice.

If you already have a manual valve to isolate the radiators, but still heat water, then, in my opinion and experience, the pipework is fine as is.
What will be needed is the installation of the zone valves on the pipework and wiring it all up correctly.
Best practice is to power flush the heating system using a machine and fit a magnetic filter to the pipework in order to protect the new boiler and help keep the system clean.
This is a superior method than a chemical flush.
As for boiler choice, I have no experience with the Intergas units, so I cannot comment, Ideal are a midrange unit, but if it was down to the two, it would be the Ideal.
As neither have offered power flushing, I might suggest keep looking. You haven't mentioned prices quoted for either.

Do you mind me asking what you were quoted. I just got a quote for ideal logic with heating zone controls (1 heat/1 water) and it was over 3k inc vat.
