hi all I'm going into leaving cert and for years I have always wanted to go to trinity college in Dublin.
The course I have been thinking of is Bess or else the bachelor of business in tcd as I love business and would possibly like to be a business teacher..

I know it's early but I would be worried about going to trinity as I am from rural galway and wonder about making friends and setting In.
Could anyone give me an opinion on going to trinity as a person from outside Dublin, I've read online there is snobbery particularly in the Bess course, is this true?
I would be willing to join societies and sport, are there many students that are not from Dublin in business courses?

    Thank you for any help!

More than 50% of Trinity's students are from outside Dublin, and there are students from every county in Ireland and, of course, from abroad. Coming from Galway won't make you stand out at all. Can't speak for the BESS student body in particular, but I would be very surprised if it was very different from the rest of the College.

As for making friends, everybody faces this when they go to college, no matter where they go, and there's no better place for making new friends than college. You'll make a whole new set of friends within the first term.

Is there snobbery? Yeah, some; there is everywhere. You can deal with it easily enough, mostly by avoiding it.

My wife's a BESS student. The course is so big (something like 450 people on her course) especially compared to other courses (mine's more like 45) that there's room for everybody. And even if you don't hit it off with other BESS students, there's enough societies and so forth that you'll find somewhere to fit in.
