I'm using a Landini Ghibli, and wondering how you set the PTO speed independent to the forward drive speed?
When I turn on the PTO,  the PTO Revs go up and down depending on my forward drive speed (throttle revs). Not very experienced so excuse my ignorance , this is probably a simply thing

throttle revs are directly linked to pto speed (pto runs off engine), if you want to keep the PTO speed the same you cannot use the throttle to alter forward speed. set the desired pto speed using the throttle and select your forward speed with gearbox.

Do you have ground drive pto selected as opposed to 540rpm or 540e or 1000?

Sounds like your tractor might be in ground speed pto, so there is probably a lever somewhere to be swapped. Don't know anything about landinis other that.

OP if you reverse the tractor does the pto go backwards as well? If it does, then you have ground speed pto engaged. As ppl above said there should be a lever somewhere to disengage it. Sorry I'm not a landini driver either.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Don't know anything about Landins but on our Fiat 880 there are two settings on the pto lever. First setting (pulling it up to the first position) is pto drive. Second position (pulling it further) is the land drive position. You have to engage/disengage the pto clutch lever.

Do modern tractors have a PTO activation button/switch on their mudguards??

Op, please don't do any further tractor work until you get instruction from an experienced person.

This is for the safety of your equipment and most importantly for your own safety.

Only an old tractor here but could someone explain how the land drive system works mechanically?
I know how the old system works. It's basically a fixed gear linkage so revs of the engine drive both pro and transmission together at the same rate.
