    In order to obtain the rate of duty, you would need to advise the commodity.

    You could contact the Customs classification unit in Nenagh

    Tariff Classification Unit, Revenue,
    Government Offices, St.Conlon’sRoad,Nenagh,Co.Tipperary,Tel:(+353 -67) 63370
    Fax:(+353-67) 32385,E-mail:tarclass@revenue.ie.

    They would give you a "non binding" opinion. However, provided you give them proper information (maybe supported by brochure material or website links to the product), they should be quite accurate. Just bear in mind that it is an opinion only and that the customs officer dealing with your import at the time of presenting the customs entry has the (initial) final say.

    There also is the option to apply for a Binding Tariff Information (BTI). The advantage of a BTI is that it is binding on all 28 EU member states. Also, any changes to the classification, duty rate etc will hold for 6 months beyond the implementation date for holders of a BTI.

    The method of calculation of the duty is ;

    - Cost of product (commercial invoice value)
    - Cost of shipping to arrival Irish port (or EU port if you clear in an other EU member state)
    - Cost of Marine / Transport insurance

    The duty is calculated over the combined total of the these items.

    If you need any assistance or require more information drop me a PM.

    Cheers,
