I used to have a Security PSA licence for 3 years but was let go in 2015 and I have not renewed. If I renew can I work while I am waiting for it to be processed? What do I say to the employer. I will not have any problem with the vetting process.

The PSA will give you a letter while your application is pending, only if you have no previous convictions, so you can work away.

I applied for my licence in early November 2016, i'm still waiting.

The reason? The garda vetting is holding it all up.

What happens with the card to be displayed on the arm, do they give a temporary pass?

You can't display what you don't have.

I can only assume that you must carry a copy of the letter on your person while the application is pendng.

If you want, i can PM you the details of the guy i done the course with here in Cork, he either works in conjunction with or has good relations with the PSA.

He has never let us down and always gets back to us with answers to out questions rapidly.

Did you apply for the Guarding or door supervisor licence or both?

    Not cheap by no means!!!

When i last done security (January 2005) people said it would clean up the sector, yes maybe so, but it has also made a lot of people a lot of money in the process.

I set up a company with a PSA licence for the first time about 3 months ago. Start to finish including an audit took about 3 weeks. We have the licence now.

Yes. 5 directors were vetted and passed. One from UK too so that was an extra bit of work. Not all employees had to be vetted the onus to do that is on the licence holder.

Just the static security, 90 quid for 3 years. This is my 3rd licence. I was told when i got my first one that the price would be less when i went for my second one, but no.

I've forked out €220 for both,if it gets cheaper, great, but in Ireland prices only go one way, and not the way we like either.

How long for the UK director?

I have a few previous convictions of a minor and historic nature.

That still shouldn't hold it up though.

Was vetted last year for another organisation and it took 3 months all in.

In relation to the PSA, i had a detective call to my door a few days before christmas to verify whether i was the applicant using a different address etc.

Someone with an idential name to me and similar in age lives less than a mile away, he also has previous, but on a serious scale, they thought it was odd i was told.

Wait another few years and they are fcuked :pac: My son has the same name as me and our birthday's are 1 day apart, they'll be confused all the more :P

It was for a company with about 50 employees. Some of our work is classed as locksmith type activity and customers were asking for our licence so we decided to get it. I am the financial controller and I get tasked with jobs like this. Spoke to them in their office in Tipperary. Had to do an audit in that time too with a standards organisation to make sure we met the standards. All done and licence number issued within approx a month. Changed our invoices etc to have the PSA number on them only yesterday.

Companies take priority over individuals, which is fair.

    50 employees?

    Great to hear.

Hope busy is going well for you.

Just one more question. Since I didn't renew the license do I have to do the training all over again. This is not for door licence BTW.
