Auction advice (for a seller)

    Hi all,

Trying to sell my car for a few months and have had no luck. Barely even a call despite having the ad spotlighted 3 times and I think presenting a reasonably good ad with plenty of pictures:

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/citroen-c5-exclusive-2-0-hdi-nct-02-19-tax-01-18/15249887

Anyway, I'm thinking of going down the auction route and leaving it into Merlin Auctions.

Has anyone any advice on doing this. Is it as simple as go along, drop in the keys and log book and leave it with them? I'm familiar with the fees, etc from their site but have no experience of doing this.

Alternatively, does anyone have advise as to why I'm getting little traction on my ad.

    Cheers

Why did you blank out the Reg? Always looks suspicious to me when private sellers do this.....

At the auction you will be lucky to get 50% of what it would achieve on a private sale, it will mainly be trade buyers buying at low trade prices.

Did you think about reducing the price to see if the offers come? If nobody is biting it would appear that your car valuation is overpriced? You could maybe add O.N.O to the selling price to see if offers come in?

I must admit it's just force of habit. Can't imagine why anyone would want to clone the reg

Jesus, I'd keep before I'd let it go that cheaply.. Could chance my arm with a reserve and see if it sold. Nothing ventured and all that

Already reduced the price from €6k to €5.5k. I'd add ONO there now. It definitely isn't overpriced compared to others available given the mileage and the high spec

Cheers, it does have it. I'll update the ad now.

My personell opinion is its just a small bit over priced .

I have a Citroen and they are hard to sell, the colour is letting it down as well .

Again my opinion is at 4.5k to 5 k I think you may get bites .

Appreciate the feedback. Dropped it to €5k ONO today and spotlighted it again

Didn't realise the colour worked against it?

I could be wrong but I had a dark blue Audi years ago and found it hard to sell, I had about 3 calls asking was it black , and when I said dark blue they had no more interest .

    Was like priest socks .
