Self-Explanatory title, never swung a club and never hit a ball in my life.

How hard would it be to pick the game up? Have watched it for years and know the rules.

Would be interested in lessons in the Dublin area, preferably north west.

Yeah lessons are the way to go starting off. You will be shown the correct grip and alignment etc. The grip especially is difficult to change later on. Better to start with a good grip from the get go.

Whereabouts in Dublin northwest? I go to Joe Murray in Hollystown, he keeps things simple, I like him a lot.
My game has come on a lot since I went to him, I wish I took lessons sooner, they help hugely. It's €40 each lesson or 3 for €100 which is fair.

I'm in Dublin 15, had looked into Joe but I thought I saw higher prices. I must give him a ring.

Second that, the best lessons I have had were from Joe. He simply oulined using graphics what I was doing and small improvements I should make.

I went from 24 to 28 but then it clicked and now a 14

I only started playing when a few friends dragged me out when I was about 24. I remember saying many times over the first year or so that I would give it up because I just couldn't get the hang of it or get any consistency going. Then eventually I began to get better and got down to 8/9 h/c for many years. It has been a big part of my sporting and social life for many years and am so glad I stuck with it in the early days. While I did it on my own in those early days I would strongly second what others have said and recommend finding a good coach, but one who takes an interest in your progress, and agree a price for 5/6 lessons (driving, woods, irons, pitching, chipping and putting) over a few months... and don't forget to practice what you are told otherwise the lessons are largely wasted. Remember short game is king as it can often make up for a bad shot and get you out of trouble. Good luck with it and stick with it. Keep us updated with how you are getting on.
