My second provisional license expires this july and will need to renew it.
I have sat all EDT lessons but money issues mean I cant sit the test.

If i dont have the test sat/applied for by july, does that mean you then start from the beginning with re taking the theory test and driving lessons?

Note that "provisional licenses" were abolished more than a decade ago. :)

Can you borrow the €85 to apply for the test? If you do have to resit the theory test and redo the 12 lessons that will cost you a lot more!

Good comment and great way to help op ..

For clarity (after a google) I think you mean its now called a learner permit? Is that what you are getting at?

RE the actual query - it seems that without a test you will only get a permit for one more year - but I dont think you will need to start again?

I think you have about 2 years from expiry of one learner permit to getting the next without having to redo the theory test.

If I were you though, I'd look to get a lend of the 85 and apply for the test. If you're not ready for it when it is coming around you can reschedule. I think you can reschedule twice without losing your 85.
