Was in Monaco a couple of years ago, and to get to see as much of it as possible in the short time we were there we went on one of those tourist train thingys. Part of the route followed the grand prix circuit, including through the tunnel and casino Square, the only problem was that it was going the other direction to the race. It just felt so wrong.

Amazing how many of the bends that look very tight in F1, are actually quite spacious for road cars (the Grand Hotel / Loews hairpin above all), while the areas that look fast in F1 are actually quite restrictive as roads (e.g. tunnel, it's an actual bend, not a "kink").

I did the same thing. I thought most of it was unrecognisable without the barriers and hoardings. I couldn't figure out Casino square at all! :p

Being there is the complete opposite of watching on TV. Regardless of how much of a snoozefest a race is, being so close to those cars doing those speeds is just electric! A few days in Nice and the GP weekend is an epic holiday. Must do it again.

    Sweet clip btw.

I walked around the circuit. St Devote is has a tiny little church at the end of its cul-de- sac. You dont see it during the race its its all blocked up The Grand Hotel Hairpin really is sharp. Its increbile to think how a F1 car can actually get around it.

TBH most Monaco GPs are fairly boring - you need rain to turn them into something special. I remember Derek Dalys amazing race there in the 1980s and Olivers Panis amazing win. That was incredible - a bit like Button in Canada. It took a while for it to get going and then all hell broke lose.
I was 13 in 1982 I still remember it like yesterday cheering on Derek Ireally thought we were going to have an Irish winner. It seems like yesterday.

I could only find one video of it - I reckon F1 management have taken everything down. The quality is appaling - just watch it from 8 mins in. Daly is the one with out the rear wing!

The other great Monaco Races were Prost V Senna and even better 1996 Panis when he fought his way from the back of the grid.
