Selling my car enquiry

Hi guys, I just started to try to sell my car and one reseller in cork (where I live) offered me to take the car there so they can sell it on my behalf. I haven'tt taken the car there yet and talked to them either but I assume they will keep a good amount of money if they sell it right?

But I have two concerns: what if something happen with my car in the meantime? and if they manage to sell the car how do I know the real last price?

How long are you trying to sell it?
    Is it an expensive car?

You'd really want to trust them.

How much do you have it advertised for?

    What is it?

Tell them to pay your asking price and then they can sell it on for as much as they like.

4 grand for a 06? Not going to happen. Set a realistic price and you may have a chance. It's 11 years old and insurance for that age of car is now becoming a big issue for people.

Corolla or not 4k for a 11 year old hatch is a bit much, or even boarder line mad.

Drop it down to 3250 and the phone might start ringing.

Garages can buy these in the trade for €1500. I can't see them giving you 4K plus making a margin.

What usually happens is they ask you how much you need for it, then take it, then you get a call a few days later saying they can get half the initial figure but you have to decide there and then.

And the NCT expires in 4 months time. Not a hope of fetching 4k.

Did you price drop that from 4500 recently?

Either way, you are still a good bit too expensive IMO. That's what it's not shifting.

It's a Terra spec which does nothing for those Corollas as there are plenty of high spec ones available which make a world of difference to them. It's light enough on NCT and it looks a little tatty tbh.

Your photos are very good but the wording of your ad isn't great. Nobody cares about electric windows, airbags or isofix. People just expect those in modern cars, they aren't worth a mention. Tell the cars story, if it has a service history of any kind mention that, if it's had any money spent on it recently mention that, if it has 2 keys mention that and if it's had less than 3 previous owners of mention that.

Before I change my ad to reflect the above, I'd spend €100 on the car to get it looking smart. Get a PDR company get rid of that dent as it creates a terrible first impression. Then get your headlights polished, the yellow oxidisation on them looks terrible, it makes the car look old and grubby. If you shop around you should get both jobs done for €100 ish.

Then retake your photos, dickie up your ad. Readvertise at €3500 and if nothing happens after a fortnight, drop by €250 again. Good Corollas are always desirable so if you're isn't selling it's priced wrong.

This for example is a top spec model, same age with similar mileage, more NCT and tax within driving distance of you and it's asking €500 less and even it has been for sale a while.

Car needs a good polish/wax and also a job done on faded headlights.

You can machine polish or even get a kit with fine grade sandpaper and sealant.

Test it in 2 weeks and drop price to €2500. Old cars are hard sold now.

When your car is on adverts and you haven't been offered a bar of chocolate, or swap my add, you know you are way over priced.
