Modem rebooting

I have been having a lot of problems with my broadband connection. When using a PC wired to the modem, the modem constantly reboots. Today I used a wifi dongle on the same PC and I find the modem again starts rebooting.
There are other wifi devices in the house connecting normally.
I can understand how the wired connection might be faulty and rebooting the modem but baffled as to how a wifi connection could have the same effect.
    Would appreciate any suggestions.
