We are pleased to announce an improved timetable on Route X4 between Dublin Airport, Dublin, Waterford and New Ross.

There will now be three direct services each way, every day, giving a faster journey between Dublin Airport, City and the south east.

Starting Sunday, 4 June, there will be buses departing New Ross at 0530, 0930 and 1630. They will depart Dublin Airport at 1000, 1400 and 2100.

All trips will serve Carlow and Waterford Bus Station.

In conjunction with Route 4, customers will now have up to twelve services per day between Dublin Airport, Dublin and Waterford.

Removing Kilkenny is a good idea, those buses are not at all suitable for the one way system in the town. Easily up to 20 minutes getting through even at night time.

Are you confusing the BE and Dublin Coach routes?

The BE 4/X4 doesn't serve Kilkenny at all?

It was served by the 7/X7 which has now been cancelled.

This timetable change adds extra X4 trips that bypass Thomastown and other towns en route.

    02.30, 05.00 and 19.30 were via Kilkenny,/Carlow and Dublin.

    See old timetable.

That's why route variations are confusing for people!! I only looked at the southbound! ;-)

Given the cancellation of the X7, serving Kilkenny only in one direction on the X4 was kind of pointless.

Good move to see them eliminated.

Interesting, I'm traveling from Dublin to Waterford next week, so might give X4 a try. I've tried the other available bus services before, and they all have their share of problems (JJ Kavanagh - detour via Carlow, Dublin coach - detour via Kilkenny, BE 4 - sightseeing tour of counties Carlow & Kilkenny).

as someone living in Carlow and who goes out in Kilkenny sometimes, that late bus was a god send as the last train up is early enough.

Passengers, please be advised route 4/X4 services are changing effective Tuesday 1st November 2022.

The 02:00am Waterford/Dublin Airport and 07:00am Dublin Airport/ Waterford services will be suspended along with all X4 New Ross/Dublin Airport and Dublin Airport/New Ross services. We apologies for the inconvenience caused to our customers.

Quite a disconnect for new Ross to lose their Dublin services. BE seem to be pairing back big time- mustn’t be doing the numbers.

Guess it’ll be change in either Waterford or Wexford to get to Dublin now

On a good day you might hae one or two continuting to/from New Ross...

It never made sense from day one but I suspect the NTA came under pressure at the time.

Carlow is keeping route 4 going at this stage.

The new Suirway PSOs contact also requires drivers so much more vaulable to BE.

Were numbers that bad from new Ross? I’d have thought that service would be pretty popular as it goes up the motorway fairly directly
