States that it is and comes with certificate etc. however the wheels don't look rite, no jcw brake calipers and exhaust looks like it may be standard cooper s. Cartell etc. lists it as a standard S also but I believe these kits can be fitted aftermarket. Any Mini gurus confirm if its genuine?

I'm not a R56 expert, but the cert should have the date of installation, the JCW Kit number, and the vehicle identification number.

AFAIK, they were only issued by the garage if the kit was fitted by the garage.

I cant tell if the exhaust is the standard or the JCW version from the pic.

from the Mini web site (currently offered, so may be different from what was offeresd in 2009):

Components: John Cooper Works air filter system, stainless steel sport silencer with John Cooper Works Chrome trims, exhaust manifold (for higher temperatures), modified engine electronics, John Cooper Works badges for front radiator grille and tailgate, John Cooper Works engine badge with kit number, John Cooper Works certificate of authenticity.

No mention of Wheels coming as part of the kit. Id say its probably genuine. Best way to find out would be hop in and drive.

    Cool car either way.

There were factory JCW models, dealer fitted JCW models and then body kit ones. To me that looks like it has a JCW body kit. Isn't there a tension bar/strut fitted in the engine bay etc on true JCW or fully modded JCWs?

I don't think so if its a dealer fitted jobbie.

All the mods seem to be engine performance related apart from the badges . Map, exhaust, air filter.

You get the cert with a dealer fitted kit.

I would try find out where the car was purchased from and try and find out what was fitted to it.

\That's why I am saying that I don't think it's a genuine JCW nor fully uprated to JCW. For example, see here for the suspension kit - see the two braces.

Ah i didnt explain properly. you can get a (JCW) kit from the garage that they fit to your normal cooper s which is just engine mods and a few badges. Comes with cert.

Then there is the actual Mini JCW with the body mods and the big brakes etc. The suspensions was an optional extra.

I think.......... Heads melted ha ha
