Hi I'm trying to book flights for August this year, with airline times and my work I can't take a direct flight. all the connecting flights have 6+ hour layover. I found a route via 2 different airlines via Leads. only issue is its a 1 hour and 50min difference. is that enough time as I'll have to exit and renter security?

If that's Leeds-Bradford airport, you should have no problem getting out and back through security in that time, it's a relatively small airport, ranked #15 in the UK by passenger traffic, just above Aberdeen and with roughly half the passenger traffic of Bristol.

Your main worry would be that if you're delayed getting there, you will be screwed because from what you've said (two different airlines), the connection is one organised by you with two separate bookings so if you arrive late, you're on your own. If you're flying in the morning, you'll probaby be ok.

It being two different airline makes no difference than if it was the same airline, if tickets are booked separately and the first flight is late you're screwed. You've almost 2 hours to connect through Leeds, this is loads of time, just hope the first flight is ontime

I use Leeds regularly and it's very fast to get through arrivals and clearing security for departures. I'm actually struggling to recall the last time there was a queue when I was departing ex Leeds!

But as the others say, your issue will be potential delays on your flight to Leeds. The other potential pitfall is if the hand luggage policies of the airlines aren't compatible... Aer Lingus/Stobart hand luggage size is smaller than that of Ryanair or Jet 2, for example. Likewise Thomas Cook allowance is only 6kg, Thomson/TUI is only 5kg! May not be an issue, but something to keep in mind.

When you come out of the baggage hall, turn right and keep going past the check-in hall. The entrance to the security area is just beyond the check in desks, on the left hand side. It's fairly well signposted.

I'm aware about the risks of a delayed flight. I am taking these risks over doing a 6 hour layover by booking through one airline. my flight lands in Leeds at 7.40 and my next flight leaves at 9.30. so hopefully the morning flight is less likely to be delayed.

Do you have a plan B in case the first flight is delayed?

Where is the six hour layover? If it's during the day and the airport isn't far from the city you could visit the city for a few hours.

are you flying into leeds with ryanair?
ryanair always seem to put the flight duration at an hour or more, you always land early from my experience, its only around 40 minutes in reality.

I'm flying Aer Lingus from Dublin and Ryanair from Leeds-bradford. currently booking the return part of this trip and thinking about doing a similar thing with 2 Ryanair flights using Manchester. 3 hour layover there.

That flight (EI3390) departs Dublin at 06:25 on Fridays and Saturdays which means it's the first flight of the day for that plane and crew so unless there's fog or severe weather in Dublin, you should get away on time.

Last Friday (26th), it arrived in LBA at 07:32 and on Sat (27th), it landed at 07:30. On both days it departs 16 minutes late (at 06:41) and still arrived early. So in all probability you will have two hours to make the connection.

As you are carrying on your bag and flying with multiple airlines, take heed of the warning from poster Eponymous above, you will need watch your bag size, especially on that Aer Lingus flight to LBA as the bins are smaller than on the Airbus fleet or the Ryanair 737s.

Leeds Bradford is one kip of an airport, particularly landside. I transited there last year Dub LBA Lanzarote. Plenty of time to transfer as its small enough - but its a real kip.

As others have said, delays are your only real worry.

It's a small regional airport, I don't know what you'd be expecting from it. It's been spruced up in Departures/Airside in the last few years and it's fine for what it is. Personally, I prefer it to pretty much any other UK airport, primarily down to the ease of transition through the airport. Getting in and out of Leeds from there - now that's something to complain about!!!!
