2015 Filed but forgot to claim pension contributions

I filed my 2015 Tax Return in March 2017 (Late, I know). I now realize that I should have included Pension Top Up contributions paid in Oct 2016 which I did not claim Tax Relief in the 2015 Tax Return. I can't apply it to my 2016 Return, because I have reached the Max of my contributions for that year. I can't apply it to 2017 because I changed company. Is it too late to make this Correction/Adjustment to the 2015 Tax Return now ? Thanks.

You'll be fine. It's ok to keep submitting adjustments up to 4 years after as long you can prove them, if requested.

You'll then be issued with a P21 balancing statement to your PAYE anytime account and, if they've your bank details on file, you'll have the 'overpaid' tax paid there.

I just spoke to a lady in Revenue about this issue and she made it very clear that I should have claimed the tax back on my 2015 Pension Contribution before the deadline date of 10 Nov 2016 (using ROS online). Because I left it until after that date, she said I cannot claim it back now. I acknowledged my Oversight/Mistake but she made me feel like a scolded child. I mentioned the 4 Year Rule for Adjustments/Changes and she said it did not apply to Pensions. I tried reasoning with her and remained as polite as I could, but she kept quoting "The Rule Book" and she was not budging. Is there someone else in Revenue that I should talk to ? Or should I just submit the adjustment online to ROS and wait and see ? I have a feeling my file will be marked and I may not get very far. Help Please !

    Update .....
I rang a 1-890 number in a different Revenue office and spoke to another member of staff. They told me that it was OK for me to make the change to my 2015 Return online. I asked again to be sure and was told Most Certainly Yes, because it was <4yrs and if there was any problems to ring them back. So I am puzzled at the conflicting information, but I will hope this one is right.
