Overwhelmed by the amount of selection.

I keep seeing the Simba, Casper and Leesa brands poping up on best mattress lists. Was just wondering if anyone had one, or knew anything about them?

The whole business is a load of nonsense if you ask me. People are putting brands on something that is basically quite generic. If I were you I would buy a pocket sprung mattress. But it is a matter of what you want and what suits you.

I would be reluctant to dismiss differences in mattresses as a load of nonsense, but it is true that what mostly matters is what you want. Do you prefer a firm mattress or a soft one, with a memory foam overlay - or all memory foam - or not. What can you afford? Go to a decent quality shop where they have a good selection, and lie on some of them. Take your time and don't worry about what other people think of you sprawled on the beds :D

Yes, pocket sprung mattresses are the way to go, but it also matters how much and what kind of padding / upholstery is on them.

Yes it does matter for sure and there is a difference. But there is an awful lot of nonsense with branding.

All of these mattresses come from a very small number of factories. There are a limited number of types of construction.

A foam mattress suits some people too. Going and trying a load of mattresses is good advice.

Some of these mail order mattresses do trial periods and that might work for you too.

Yes the most sensible approach is definitely to hit the shops and do some testing. I was taken in by all the science and technology marketing, in the end I suppose its all down to how you feel lying on the thing.

It is worth reading a bit about the construction too. It is worth understanding the difference between a pocket spring and a bonell spring and a few other things. Read this at least: http://www.which.co.uk/reviews/mattresses/article/choosing-the-best-type-of-mattress

Another tip is that all mattress places always have discounts. There is a fair bit of bamboozling going on.
