I am currently using my iPad Abroad with a mifi:)

I have the usual apps. Viber Facebook Skype Spotify etc ,

Should I have any of these disabled( and if so How) or do they eat a lot of data in background etc

    Thanks in advance

Do you constantly have the apps open or do you close them when not in use?

Closing the apps (which I find unnecessary, does not stop background activity if enabled).

I wouldn't be worried too much about data being used by the apps.

Maybe ensure that automatic app updates is not enabled on mobile data in settings.

If your iPad is wifi only then it's not using mobile data.
