Tim off for Medical Tests

I need to have som tests done on the instruction of a consultant I attend. One is just a scan where I'll be in and out in an hour or so but then it's going to be another test where I'll need 2 days off, the day of the test and day after.
Can I just get a sick cert from the hospital for those 2 days or do I need to take holidays? And also what do I need to tell my manager?

As far as I know that time off needs to come out of your annual leave as you are considered 'fit for work'. You'll need to request the time off.

A as you are considered 'fit for work'.

If the test is intrusive to the point where you must take the next day to recover, it is doubtful you are "fit for work"

    You should get a Cert

Ask in advance where your getting the tests done or your GP will they be able to supply a cert to cover your time off

if they say they can't supply it then book annual leave.

Just be aware that even with a cert it's still absence from work, it's explained by the cert but still absence. I've worked for employers where certified absence is taken the same as all absence for reviews and so has a serious effect. I've seen pips and warnings resulting from certified absence.

It's going to be done under anaesthetic so it's more the recovery from that than the actual procedure. I'm on probation too so that's concerning me a little.
