Do you Car?

Among the many topics we discuss at work, one is cars (the driving kind, not tv or "computer" cars, like formula one, or nascar). Now, i don't car. I never really did. I put it down to not being friends with the school and Under 18 managers children, so never drove. Plus i was young, so obviously i was no good at driving in general... Tried the boy racers groups, but too cliquey for me.

Anyway, i don't car. I'll drive about Limerick. I got into it and tried out some motor clubs, but i'm getting a bit too old to be starting into that craic, what with all the young uns and their speed. Other than that, i don't car. I don't get it. People losing their lives over fast cars and having life altering injuries but still manage to get up and drive again.

Anyway, do you car? Are you addicted to cars? Does your life revolve around cars and all things related to cars?

    Cars are tools. Nothing more.

I'm an armchair car fan. I like to sit in my armchair, looking out the window, watching people drive by in their cars.

I don't really need to own a car at all. I just like driving around the city trying to injure cyclists, they do deserve it after all.

    Glazers Out!

I do a lot of mileage every week and so spend quite a lot of time in the car... as a result it was pretty important to me that I got something comfortable, with lots of toys, and that I actually like being in (plus I like cars/driving anyway)

So yes, love my car :p

Once upon a time it wasn't easy to car.
I had one that was afraid of puddles.
    Stories about shared misery.

Today car just starts every time. Boring.

Yes I car. My car is gorgeous smooth fast and never lets me down. My car gives me total freedom to go where I like whenever I want to. I would find life very difficult without being able to drive.

    I hate carring.

    Worst machines ever invented.

I love carring. I love my car. Only problem is, my car is fun but not very practical. I wish I had another car (or ten) for different purposes, such as for when I work, sport, adventure, travel, chill, show off etc.

I don't know exactly why I love everything car related but it's been in me from a very young age and there's nothing I can do about it now except spend stupid amounts of money on the things. And it's not all about speed. You also have to consider comfort, practicality, efficiency, style.

I assume the thread should read
    Do you care?
    No, I don't.

I thought car was an adjective, not a verb?
Or - am I just not cool?

Unfortunately I have to drive occasionally. I much prefer to walk, take the train or cycle though.

People who are obsessed with cars I find particularly boring to be honest. Nothing worse than sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. Toxic

Also there is a direct correlation between the size of a mans moobs and the amount of time he spends in his car so overall, car-ing to excess seems unwise.

I have the unfortunate experience of bumping into 'enthusiastic' cyclists on Sunday mornings when I'm going to work and I'm always amazed at the bellies on some on them. Its lucky they have a cross bar otherwise their bellies would be sitting on their refreshment drinks container.

Good for them getting out to do a bit of exercise so. They are probably stuck in their cars five days a week. Seeing someone cycle on a Sunday doesn't mean they don't drive for the rest of the week.

I do it the opposite way. I cycle midweek and take a walk at the weekends and drive down the country every month or so.

Did you really just copy and paste another posters thread and change sport to car?

I appreciate a nice car - but i consider older BMWs/Volvos/Audis nice cars. Not newer flashy kn0b wagon BMWs/Audis.

I drive a sensible older Honda that runs forever on a sniff of petrol, never gives any hassle and is comfortable. Thats all i require from a car. Once its time to change cars i will get a Prius.

Cars are not that interesting to me but i do LOVE Motorbikes - all shapes and sizes.

My first car was the best car! I would car all day long & drive for hours just for the fun of it :) any excuse at all to be in it, I was!

My current car is so very very boring & functional and I tend to avoid it if I can.

    I miss my first car :( I wish I hadn't killed it :(

Mine have been the other way around... each one has been a significant step up from the last - also somewhat Noah's Ark like as I seem to be doing it in 2s!:)

    - 00 and then a 99 Mitsubishi Mirage/Colt (hatchback and coupe)
Cheap, decent alternative to the Civics of the day that didn't give a day's bother

    - 02 and then 06 VW Passat
again solid cars in general though the first turned out to be a bit of hassle moreso because of the cowboy (that I didn't realise was such) that I bought it from. The 06 though served me 5 years, did over 250k km and never put a wheel wrong really besides consumables

    - 05 and then 2010 Audi A6
Two 05 A6's (the first of which went back because of injector issues 3 weeks in) but the second of which did 3 years of fantastic motoring with lots of toys and spec and a 3.0 TDI Quattro to power it

My curent 2010 model is also a 3L Quattro but the spec is even better. Fantastic machine!

When the time comes again to change I'll probably go for another Audi (maybe an A7) or possibly a well-specced Mercedes E-class. Despite the push to smaller engines/electric though I do prefer the bigger versions in cars like that.
